During their visit, students received an inside look at how SHAES operates as an ALS transport ambulance service and fire department. They learned about medical equipment used to assess and treat patients, explored careers in emergency services, and got a firsthand look at the training and equipment our firefighters use every day.

One brave volunteer also had the opportunity to try on firefighting gear, experience breathing from a self-contained breathing apparatus, and participate in a firefighter search exercise. She earned a SHAES T-shirt for her efforts!

The visit also highlighted opportunities available through local fire departments, including the SHAES Cadet Program for young people interested in learning more about fire and EMS service.
